The weather in the Netherlands can sometimes be unpredictable, and unfortunately, that sometimes brings rainy days. But don’t let a few drops ruin your mood! After all, Groningen has plenty to offer to brighten your day, even if it’s gloomy outside. Here are five things to do in Groningen during bad weather such as rain or snow.

Boules bar BOEL

Jeu de boules old-fashioned? Definitely not. At Jeu-de-Boulesbar BOEL you can play a game, but also enjoy a nice meal and a drink. Beginner or experienced? It doesn’t matter. This is a fun place to spend time indoors in Groningen.
The bar is open every day, so this is a top place to go last minute.

Visit a museum

Groningen is the place to visit a museum. For example, we have the world-famous Groninger Museum, but did you know that there are also many nice museums outside the city of Groningen?

Check out the best museums in Groningen here.

The Tea Factory

For tea lovers, the tea factory in Houwerzijl is a true paradise. The factory is a beautiful building where you can learn everything about growing and preparing tea. And of course, you can drink a nice cup of tea yourself. Want to take a souvenir? Don’t forget to take a look in the tea store, where you can find a unique gift or special souvenir to end your day.

Go to a spa

Groningen is also the place to go for a spa. At Thermen Bad Nieuweschans
You will find one of the best spas in the Netherlands. How nice is it when you enjoy a sauna or thermal bath inside while it’s raining outside?

Forum Groningen

The Forum Groningen is anyway a must during your visit to Groningen, even if it is not raining. In this one-of-a-kind building, you will find countless opportunities for entertainment during bad weather. Discover interesting exhibitions, watch fascinating films, enjoy (literary) events or talk shows, stroll through the library, and have a coffee on the highest floor. The Forum offers something for everyone on a rainy day.
