Street parking
Street parking in the city centre is expensive and discouraged by the council. Paid parking applies in the city centre from Monday to Saturday between 9:00–24:00 and on Sundays. The hourly rate is up to €4.50. Please note: on busy streets such as Oude Ebbingestraat and Martinikerkhof, there is a maximum parking time of 30 minutes; in the rest of the city centre, this is 1 hour.
→ Good to know: Parking meters in the city centre operate on a number plate basis; you no longer need to display a ticket behind the windscreen. Payment can only be made by debit card, V-pay, credit card or via a parking app such as Parkmobile, Flitsmeister or Yellowbrick. Cash payments are not accepted.
→ Free on public holidays: On Easter Sunday, Whit Sunday and Christmas Day, parking is free throughout Groningen.

Park and Ride (P&R) Groningen
The smartest way to get into Groningen: park for free on the outskirts of the city and take the bus to the centre. Parking is free at all Park and Ride sites, except at Park and Ride Euroborg/P3, where paid parking applies.

- Please note: paid parking applies here. Travellers continuing their journey with an OV-chipkaart receive a discount on the parking fee.
P R bus tickets
With a P R ticket (return), you can travel cheaply with several people from a P R location to the centre of Groningen. If you are travelling alone, paying by credit on your OV-chipkaart may be cheaper. If you do not have an OV-chipkaart and do not travel frequently in Groningen, a single ticket is cheaper.
The P R ticket costs €6.25 and is only available at the P R car parks in Haren, Hoogkerk, Kardinge, Reitdiep, Meerstad, Leek and P R Euroborg/P3. You can buy the ticket from the driver of the Q-link buses (debit card only) or in the Busgd webshop.
On the bus, you can pay for your ticket with your debit card or use the balance on your OV-chipkaart. Payment by cash is no longer possible.
