In December, WinterWelVaart takes place in Groningen! This winter event attracts thousands of people to the city centre every year. During WinterWelVaart, some twenty historic ships moor in the most beautiful part of Groningen. These ships form the backdrop for a varied programme with music, theatre, performances and art. WinterWelVaart is the chance to experience the city in a special way. A party for young and old, for lovers of culture, history and Christmas cheer.
On the Hoge, Lage and Kleine der A, you can enjoy performances by national and international artists aboard the ships. There are also exhibitions and workshops to visit. This year, there is extra action: an ice rink, a Ferris wheel and a larger market stretching from the Hoge and Lage der A to the Grote Markt. More atmosphere, more cosiness and more reason to put on your hat and head into town.
Don’t miss the winter market with stalls of local entrepreneurs and the activities in Museum aan de A and the Akerk.
