The autumn holidays are upon us again, and that means: time for fun with the kids! Sure, the weather can be a bit changeable, but don’t stress – there are plenty of fun things to do, both indoors and outdoors, regardless of the rain.

Weather during the autumn holidays in Groningen
From Saturday October 19 to Thursday October 31, temperatures will fluctuate between 7°C and 17°C, with light precipitation of up to 6 mm on Monday October 21. Winds are mainly from the southwest and mostly weak to moderate. Expect most rain on Monday and otherwise relatively dry days with occasional light showers.

Indoor bouncy castle festival
Any energy left over? Then visit the indoor bouncy castle festival in Martiniplaza. From 26 to 29 October, children can let loose on huge bouncy castles and assault courses.
October Children’s Month
October is a celebration month for children, with fun activities every weekend. Think pumpkin crafts, magic, or even a drumming lesson. Museums like the Groninger Museum and the University Museum also participate with creative workshops. Check your favourite museum’s website for full details.
Cinekid Festival
The Cinekid Festival in the Forum Groningen is the film and media festival for children. They can make their own films, create a 360-degree video or race like Mario. The festival takes place from 28 October to 1 November, so plenty of time to catch a film as well as explore the Cinekid Lab.
Photo puzzle tour Bell Foundry Museum
In Heiligerlee, children can take part in an exciting photo puzzle tour through the Bell Foundry Museum. An educational and adventurous outing where they learn all about bell foundry.

Mushroom festival
Looking for something outdoors? Go to the Mushroom Festival on 20 October at Ennemaborg Estate. Discover special mushrooms and learn all about nature.
Visit the petting zoo
Visit the petting zoo. In Stadspark or De Beestenborg, children can cuddle goats, rabbits and other animals.
Adventure Mini Golf
Play a game of minigolf at Kardinge on the tough 18-hole course full of obstacles and challenges. A perfect outdoor adventure for the kids!
Ride on the historic steam train – Museumspoorlijn STAR
Take a nostalgic ride on the steam train between Stadskanaal and Veendam. A super fun experience for both young and old, taking you back in time! 27-30 October
