Just imagine: the sun is shining (we hope), your nose is tantalised by the smell of freshly brewed beer and delicious snacks, and the tastiest tunes sound from the speakers. Sounds like music to your ears, right? Well, then put 7 and 8 June 2025 boldly in your diary, because it’s time for the Beer Festival Groningen again!
Just in Beer and our own local Baxbier are joining forces for the third time. And no, this is no average neighbourhood party. This will be a grand, international spectacle. Think a weekend of delicious flavours, dancing and socialising with friends. We can almost taste it already.
Why this festival is a must
OK, we all know that a beer tastes extra good after a long walk or a day full of new impressions. But this festival is more than just drinking beer.
- Beer from everywhere: Forget your standard lager. Here you taste the Crème de la Crème of European breweries, and yes, also surprising flavours from (much) further afield. This way, without packing your suitcase, you will discover what brewing culture is like in other countries. Who knows, you might just find your new favourite beer that inspires you for your next trip!
- Foodtrucks galore: A good beer deserves good company. And you’ll find that here in abundance. From juicy burgers to exotic bites, the best food trucks will keep your stomach well-filled. Perfect for working out that beer belly.
- Music and fun: Whether you want to swing with a beer in your hand or relax without, it’s possible. And the vibe? Which is like Groningen itself: down-to-earth, friendly and always up for a party.
- All in one ticket: Your ticket not only gives you access, but also a cool festival glass (nice as a souvenir, or to taste your own brew in at home), a programme booklet so you won’t miss anything, and two consumption tokens to get started right away.
A dive into the world of Baxbier
Speaking of good beer: Baxbier themselves are, of course, in attendance. They have been around since 2014 and have made a big name for themselves in town. By the way, their tasting room at 201/2a Friesestraatweg is also worth a visit, should you crave more beer adventure before or after the festival.
Where can you find all this beauty?
The festival takes place at the cool industrial venue De Suiker Events, Suikerlaan 10, Groningen. A place that perfectly suits the casual atmosphere of the festival. Easy to reach, and right in the heart of the city. Check more info here.
So, are you ready for a weekend full of great beer, good food and good music? Whether you’re a seasoned beer connoisseur, or just fancy a fun day out, this festival really is not to be missed. Either way, we will be there, toasting to the good life. Want to receive more travel tips? Subscribe to our substack newsletter (check below) and stay up to date with the latest tips for Groningen
