Groningen is bursting with unusual, small entrepreneurs. Lutje Lokaal introduces you to the faces behind these fine coffee shops, sustainable boutiques, artisan bakers and creative makers. No dertien-in-een-dozijn, but unique and quirky – just like Stad itself.
What is Lutje Lokaal?
Lutje Lokaal came into being in 2019 as a counterpoint to Black Friday, making it the Groningen version of Small Business Saturday, which blew over from America. It is the day when ‘small’ entrepreneurs (for non-Groningers: lutje means small) thank their customers for their support. It is a foundation for and by local entrepreneurs from Groningen. Where it started as one event a year, it has now grown into a platform of more than 100 entrepreneurs!

On Lutje Lokale Zaterdag, Groningen city centre is all about our local heroes: the entrepreneurs! They open their doors extra wide to thank you for shopping, eating and giving in our beautiful city! They will help you find the nicest gifts, wrap your presents with love and provide the tastiest food and drinks. Lutje Lokaal works together with the Forum (2nd ticket free for the Tattoo exhibition), Marketing Groningen and Wintergoud. Still looking for the perfect gift? Saturday 29 November 2025 we will celebrate Lutje Lokale Zaterdag in Groningen. Come along, support your favourite local entrepreneurs and enjoy a day full of surprises.
- Thanks and surprises at more than 100 Lutje Local Entrepreneurs: Step inside and find out how they thank you for supporting local entrepreneurial Groningen.
- 2nd ticket free for the TATTOO exhibition in the Forum:
- In collaboration with Forum Groningen. Tickets available now from all Lutje Local Entrepreneurs.
- Packaging and Surprises with Marketing Groningen:
- With a purchase from a Lutje Local Entrepreneur, you will receive a free Christmas bauble. Collect all four unique baubles at different Lutje entrepreneurs.
- Wrapping station in the Forum:
- In partnership with Winter Gold. Get your locally bought gift wrapped for free with the cutest wrapping material.
Give Locally – Support Quiet on the Grote Markt
At Lutje Lokaal, it’s all about giving. The Lutje Ondernemers do that every day: with a warm smile, a sincere welcome, a useful tip to visit another Lutje Lokaal entrepreneur, or by offering just that little bit of extra service. And this year they are also giving something special to the charity Quiet.
About Quiet:
Quiet alleviates poverty and empowers people. With the help of local sponsors, their communities provide free products, services and pampering moments, making people in poverty situations feel seen and supported. It gives families new courage, self-confidence and room to grow again.
You too can give: This year, they will have a cosy Lutje Lokaal stall during Lutje Lokaal Saturday on the Grote Markt. All proceeds will go to Quiet.
